Psychologist and Social Worker
(Licensed as a Clinical Social Worker in Florida, 7132; Maryland, 2850; Massachusetts, 3941.)
Hello! Welcome to my site. Let me tell you a little bit about where you landed. My name is Dr. LeslieBeth Wish, and I am both a psychologist and licensed clinical social worker.
If you have visited me before, please scroll down to News to hear about my latest research project for widows and about my upcoming workshops.
If you are a newcomer, here is key information about me. I have been working in the field of mental health for over thirty years. At the age of five, I discovered that I was fascinated with people’s behavior--including my own! As Alice said in the book Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, I, too, said about me and others, “Curiouser and curiouser.” As I learned about myself, I developed a heart-felt appreciation for the difficulty in withstanding self-examination and overcoming stumbles in order to grow and find joy. I pass on to everyone I counsel my empathy and wisdom so they, too, can find fulfillment.
But that goal is, as they say, a “tall order.”I do not offer cute or quick-fixes. Instead, my goals are to educate, coach and cheerlead you with professional, research-based advice and skills to develop the emotional bravery necessary for happiness.
But wait—how do you know you should value anything I say on this website? After all, there are thousands of sites that give advice about dating, love, marriage, relationships, widowhood, stress and career. So, here is some key information about me.
I have been fortunate enough to be nationally recognized for my work with women, relationships, marriage, divorce, widowhood and career. For example:
The National Association of Social Workers has named me as One of Fifty Social Workers who has made a contribution to the field.
My biography is listed in many of the Marquis’ Who’s Who.
I was one of the contributing writers to the National Association of Social Workers’ publication Intersections in Practice Bulletin that won an APEX award for its Bulletin on social work and the military.

Thank you!

Widows and widowers often make the best teachers for others who have experienced loss. So, I am looking for your personal recipes for your joy and strength. Please send me:
1) Your stories about your best coping strategies. What worked? How did you learn to choose them? How did they help you grow?
2) Your stories about the tough times. What "got to you" the most?
3) Your personal recipes for your original, favorite and healthy cookies, bars, cakes and pies! If possible, please send your information as an Don't worry--if I use your material, I will send you an Author's Contract Agreement to protect your work. Check back here in a while for the online Widow's Survey. Thank you! Your words can inspire others.
